FUNAAB Engages Deans, HoDs of Affiliated Institutions in Programme Implementation

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, March 5, 2025, engaged Deans and Heads of Departments from its affiliated institutions which were the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB), and Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igbo-Ora to deliberate on the progress and requirements of their collaborative academic programmes.

Addressing the participants, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, commended the representatives of FCAIB and OYSCATECH for their commitment to the partnership.

On the commencement timeline, the Vice-Chancellor assured that with collective determination, the programmes would begin in the next Academic Session. He revealed that FUNAAB has engaged with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to facilitate the inclusion of the programmes on its portal, allowing candidates to access them. He urged the affiliated institutions to work closely with FUNAAB to ensure the smooth implementation of the programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor further stated the need for adequate preparation, particularly in upgrading laboratories and other essential facilities, to support incoming 100-Level students. He encouraged the institutions to commence student mobilisation and assured them of FUNAAB’s readiness to organise workshops for stakeholders at appropriate intervals.

Furthermore, he advised the institutions to uphold academic standards and avoid any disruptions to the academic calendar. He reaffirmed FUNAAB’s commitment to providing necessary support to address any challenges that might arise.

In his remarks, the Rector of OYSCATECH, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi, expressed appreciation to FUNAAB for the collaboration and the opportunity given to the affiliated institutions. He commended the initiative of organising a stakeholder engagement meeting and pledged their commitment to the programme’s success.

Similarly, representing the Acting Provost of FCAIB, the immediate past Provost, Dr. Elizabeth Augustus, assured that with the collective efforts of all stakeholders, the programme would progress smoothly without setbacks.

Also speaking, the Dean of the College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS) and Chairman of the Committee of Deans and Directors (CODAD), Prof. Adio Akinwale, lauded the affiliated institutions for their achievements. He assured them that the Deans and HoDs at FUNAAB were willing to provide necessary support to ensure the success of the programmes.
