FUNAAB Kicks Off 32nd Convocation Ceremony with Jumat Prayers

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has commenced its 32nd Convocation Ceremony with Jumat Prayers at the University Mosque today, Friday, January 17, 2025.

Addressing the Muslim faithful after the Jumat, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, expressed profound gratitude to the Muslim Community for their unwavering support and contributions to the University’s growth and development.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the Muslim Community’s pivotal role in shaping the character of students and fostering a peaceful environment within the University. He urged the community to continue to pray for the success of the 32nd Convocation Ceremony and to remain committed to guiding students.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of FUNAAB Muslim Community, Prof. Idris Ayinde, represented by Prof. Sarafdeen Kareem, in his Welcome Address, commended the University for its support and emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration among Muslims and Christians to uplift the University.

The event featured special prayers by Prof. Taofik Shittu for the success of the 32nd Convocation Ceremony. Retirees from the University’s Contributory Pension Scheme also offered prayers for divine guidance and protection throughout the Convocation week.

The highpoint of the event was a cash donation of ₦200,000, presented to support the University Mosque by the Vice-Chancellor.

Dignitaries in attendance included Deputy Vice-Chancellor Development, Prof. Kola Adebayo; Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi; University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi; Ag. Amir of the FUNAAB Muslim Community, Prof. Adesina Agboola, as well as several other staff members of the University.
