In a significant move to improve student mobility and welfare, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, today, March 4, 2025, officially presented an 18-seater bus to the Student Union.

Speaking during the presentation, the Vice-Chancellor stressed the University’s commitment to ensuring the safety and convenience of Student Union Executives while maintaining long-standing policies on the movement of the Student Union bus. According to the Vice-Chancellor, “We have always wanted to make the Student Union mobile, but the most important thing is safety. In line with the history of this University, students are not allowed to drive the Union bus beyond campus. A designated driver will always be assigned whenever the bus is in use for off-campus engagements.”

He further noted that previous incidents of accidents involving student-driven Union buses reinforced the need for this precautionary measure.

Also speaking at the event, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun, expressed deep appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for the donation. He described the gesture as a demonstration of the administration’s responsiveness to students’ needs, adding that he was also a beneficiary of a vehicle donation for Deans the previous day.

In his remarks, the President of the Student Union, Comrade Ibraheem Adeyemi (popularly known as Com. Bello), lauded the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support, describing the donation as a testament to good governance and administrative foresight.

The official presentation was attended by a majority of the Student Union Executives, as well as representatives from the legislative and judicial arms of the Union, who all expressed gratitude for the University’s commitment to student welfare.
