The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, HRM, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, were conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (CIML).
The Pro-Chancellor who was represented at the event by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Prof. Kola Adebayo, and the Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, received the accolades at the 2024 CIML Conference held at the Red Chamber of the University on September 18, 2024.
Themed, “Navigating the Future: Strategic Leadership in the Era of Disruption,” the Vice-Chancellor was also awarded as the Best Creative, People-Oriented, and Managerial Vice-Chancellor in Nigeria.
In his appreciation speech, Prof. Kehinde commended the Institute for the recognition and expressed gratitude for the award, emphasising that the honour would further motivate both himself and the University community to strive for greater heights.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the attendees that FUNAAB would continue to maintain its core values of hard work, transparency, honesty, and anti-corruption principles that have earned the University its reputation.
In a spirit of selflessness, he acknowledged that the recognition was not just for him, but for the University at large.
Earlier in his Opening Remarks, the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Rasaq Adesina Adenugba, lauded the Institute for promoting education and honouring deserving individuals.
In his Keynote Lecture, a renowned media figure and the Director, Current & Public Affairs, TVC, Mr. Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, described leadership as motivating and guiding others toward specific objectives. He stressed the need for leaders to adapt to global disruption by developing an organisational culture that fosters strategic thinking and innovation.
The conference which brought together leaders from various sectors to discuss leadership in disruptive times, concluded with renewed commitment to excellence in leadership and management across various spheres of life.
Highpoints were the induction of members and the unveiling of the CIML Magazine, including a guided tour of facilities in the University led by the Ag. Director, Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS), Dr. Emmanuel Bankole to the 3MW Solar Project, the Cowpea, Groundnut, Carrot and Yam Plantations, as well as the Poultry, Hatchery, Ponds and the FUNAAB Alpha.
Present at the Conference were the Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu; Chairman, Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA-FUNAAB), Mr. Adewale Ojoye; Secretary, PG School, Mrs. Oluwakemi Banuso and the Principal, FUNIS, Mr. Olusola Ilori, including several members of ANUPA-FUNAAB.
Notable members present included the representative of the President, Dr. Steve Longe; Country Director, Dr. Samuel Ojo; Board of Trustees member and the Local Organising Committee Chairman, Dr. Abdussobur Salaam and the Southwest Coordinator, Engr. Ademola Junaid.
