The Head, Office of Advancement, FUNAAB, Mr. Johnson Olukehinde has charged the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Alumni Association (FUNAABAAS) to support the University with endowment, in order to make it a world class institution.
Speaking at the Association’s 23rd Annual Convention and 22nd Annual Lecture Series, Mr. Olukehinde disclosed that endowment is one of the yardsticks that is being used to rank Universities worldwide, stressing that it is needed in the face of continual dwindling of government subvention to the University.
Mr. Olukehinde who identified the objectives of the endowment to include supporting teaching, research and community service (capital and recurrent), enjoined them to work together with the University in achieving its goals.
Meanwhile, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council Dr.(Barr.) Aboki Zhawa has commended the Alumni Association for helping with the development of the youths, stating that they are the future of the nation.
Dr Zhawa who was represented by a Governing Council member, Mrs. Titilope Ajayi, however restated his commitment to the development of the University, imploring them to work together with Management, in order to make FUNAAB the envy of other institutions.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to the Pro-Chancellor, Dr. (Barr.) Aboki Zhawa, Hon. Kikelomo Longe, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Ogun State; the Olokine of Ojowo, Ijebu-Igbo, His Royal Highness, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Abayomi Banjo, and a posthumous recognition to Late Prof. Peter Adebola Okuneye, among others.
