In a spirited display of camaraderie and sporting excellence, the FUNAAB Staff Football Team (FSFT) faced off against their counterparts from the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in a friendly football encounter that lived up to expectations.
The FSF Team was warmly received at the TASUED campus, with a courtesy reception held in the institution’s Senate Chamber. The Team was officially welcomed on behalf of the University Management, underscoring the importance of inter-institutional collaboration and healthy competition.
The match kicked off under clear skies and intense heat, but neither the weather nor the stakes dampened the enthusiasm on the field. FSFT drew first blood in the first half with a brilliant strike from Nurudeen, showcasing the Team’s offensive prowess. However, just before the half-time whistle, the TASUED Staff Football Team (TSFT) leveled the score with a well-timed equaliser during stoppage time.

The second half saw both teams pressing for a winner, with end-to-end action keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. Amid the fierce contest, FSFT’s goalkeeper, Mr. Isaac Solubi fondly known as “Person”—stood tall, delivering a string of critical saves that kept his team in the game. His commanding presence between the posts earned him the Man of the Match award, a testament to his composure, reflexes, and leadership on the pitch.
The encounter ended in a 1-1 draw, but beyond the scoreline, it was a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and institutional friendship.
