The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako, has on behalf of the Governing Council and University Management, felicitated members of staff, students and all stakeholders of FUNAAB on the Yuletide. In his New Year message, Prof. Salako specially appreciated members of staff for their unalloyed support throughout the year and admonished them to be ready for more work, show extra dedication and commitment so that collectively they can build the FUNAAB of their dreams in 2021. Sharing his experiences in the outgone year and the outlook for 2021, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the year was filled with various lessons as the University had its own fair share of good and bad moments.

  He, however, revealed that the positive moments surpassed the negatives, adding that despite the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the national lockdown, the University was able to achieve some of its set goals for the year. “There were ups and there were downs. We had our good moments in 2020 and we had moments that we were not proud of, but I want to tell you that the positive aspects were far more than the negative aspects and for this reason, we thank God for 2020. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been able to be proactive in our activities for the year. We had obstacles, but we surmounted them and we are also happy that despite the pandemic and the lockdown, our projects were going on well”, Prof. Salako stated.

  The Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction at the many achievements of the University in the just-concluded year, noting that in response to the pandemic, FUNAAB was always a step ahead in adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols in the sense that the University had been more proactive than most other institutions by ensuring the safety of lives of staff and students as a result of the pandemic, adding that having heard about the emergence of the second wave of the virus, the University had already shut down the campus for fumigation and full decontamination ahead of the Federal Government’s directive for about two weeks, to avoid the spread of the virus.

  For the New Year, Prof. Salako reaffirmed his commitment towards the development of FUNAAB, stating that his vision and mission statement, as the Vice-Chancellor titled, “Excellence Cannot Be Compromised”, would continue to be maintained. He noted that for excellence not to be compromised, the vision and mission for 2021 would strive towards achieving better performance than it did in 2020. He encouraged members of staff not to rest on their oars in order to achieve excellence, while also acknowledging the efforts of staff and students of FUNAAB International School (FUNIS) and FUNAAB Staff School for their positive contributions towards the FUNAAB project, and for maintaining decorum at all times. He admonished them and stakeholders to continue to work together with the management to achieve greatness, adding, they remained critical to the life of the University.
