The Accreditation Team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) conducted another round of evaluation at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) to assess the quality of various Programmes in the University.
Some of the Programmes under review during the week were the Aquaculture and Fisheries Management (AQ&FM) and Forestry and Wildlife Management (FWM), both at the College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM), and the Department of Agricultural and Bio-Resources Engineering (ABE) in the College of Engineering (COLENG).
The Accreditation Exercise, according to the Team Leaders of each Programme, was aimed at evaluating the Programme’s facilities, equipment, staff, and students to ensure compliance with NUC standards.
During their visit, the Team engaged with College members, students, and Administrative Staff to gather insights on the overall performance of each Programme.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, was available to welcome each of the Accreditation Team. During each Team’s reception, Prof. Kehinde reiterated FUNAAB’s commitment to academic excellence, encouraging the Teams to give a constructive critique for improvement, and assured them of the University’s transparency and readiness for the review process.
He noted that the University remained dedicated to continuous improvement and welcomes feedback from external evaluators to further strengthen its academic offerings.
Meanwhile, at the Exit Meeting following the completion of the evaluation of the AQ&FM programme, the NUC Accreditation Team provided feedback on the strengths and areas for improvement within the Department.
The Team Leader, Prof. Emmanuel Ajani commended FUNAAB’s dedication to academic excellence and offered suggestions to enhance research and collaborative efforts within the Department.
Other Team Leaders who led the Accreditation Team for other Programmes were Prof. Abdullahi El-Okene for the Department of Agricultural and Bio-Resources Engineering and Prof. Emmanuel Inah for the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management.
Overall, the Accreditation Exercise served as an opportunity for FUNAAB to receive valuable input to enhance the quality of education across various programmes offered by the University.
