Prof. Babatunde Idowu of the Department of Pure and Applied Zoology, on November 23, 2023, received a glorious welcome into the folds of the College of Biosciences (COLBIOS) family after completing his tenure as the Vice-Chancellor of Glorious Vision University (GVU), Ogwa, Edo State.
During the reception, Prof. Idowu received enthusiastic applause for his successful term as the Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Tope Popoola commended him for bringing glory to GVU and transforming its identity. He said that under Prof. Idowu’s leadership, the university transitioned from Samuel Adegboyega University to Glorious Vision University.
Prof. Popoola reflected on the challenges faced by past officeholders at the university, acknowledging that Prof. Idowu navigated them with divine guidance.
Other speakers expressed gratitude to God for guiding him through a fruitful tenure.
In his appreciation speech, Prof. Idowu thanked the College, specifically recognising the Dean, Prof. Iyabode Kehinde, the Head of Department, Prof. Olufunmilayo Idowu, and other members for the honour bestowed upon him.
Attributing his success to divine intervention, Prof. Idowu urged individuals in positions of responsibility to fortify themselves with God’s grace.
Drawing from his experiences, he advised future appointees to focus on vision rather than ambition and emphasised the importance of nurturing meaningful relationships.
