The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), is set to commence its 2026 Staff Unity Games on Monday, August 10, 2026, as part of efforts to promote unity, teamwork, healthy living and staff welfare across the University Community.
The sporting fiesta is expected to feature staff from the University’s 11 Colleges, including the Institute of Human Resources Development (INHURD), as well as various Directorates, Departments and Units. Participants have been grouped into 16 teams to ensure broad participation and equitable representation throughout the competition.
A total of nine sporting events would be held during the Games. They include Football, Table Tennis, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Chess, Squash, Draught, Ayo and Ludo. Football would be competed for by men only, while Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Chess, Squash and Draught would feature both male and female participants. Ayo would also be contested by both men and women, while Ludo is reserved for women only.

Each team is expected to register 52 participants comprising 34 men and 18 women across the various events, with Football accounting for the highest number of participants.
The competition would be played on a knockout basis, with fixtures to be determined through balloting. All matches would take place at the FUNAAB Sports Centre.
The participating teams include the University’s Colleges, namely COLPLANT, COLANIM, COLERM, COLBIOS, COLVET, COLPHYS/COLCOMPS, COLENDS/FUNIS/ZOO, COLFHEC, COLENG and COLAMRUD, alongside teams comprising INHURD, IFSERAR, COBFAS, DUFARMS, the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, the Offices of the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Registry, Bursary, ICT, Public Relations, Internal Audit, Library, Health Centre, Staff School, the Postgraduate School and several other Directorates, Departments and Units.
