The University has empowered the Divisional Police Headquarters, Harmony Estate, Alabata Road, Abeokuta with a brand new Qlink Cruiser motorcycle, to enhance mobility while discharging its duties. Speaking during the handing-over ceremony of the motorcycle, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako commended police officers for their tireless efforts at ensuring that peace and adequate security reigned in the community where they are posted. He charged the officers not to rest on their oars but consider the donation as a motivation that should spur them to intensify their commitments to security in the estate and the adjourning locations. Assuring the headquarters of the University’s continued support, the Vice-Chancellor said, “We depend on your capability to assist us to secure our students, staff and other residents living in Harmony Estate and we shall continue to support you to the best of our ability”.
The Assistant Chief Environmental Officer of the University, Mr. Peter Bolarinwa disclosed that the Police Station had requested for either a patrol vehicle or three motorbikes but the University was able to magnanimously provide one brand new motorcycle as a proof of its commitment to the safety of lives and property of staff and students living around the University community. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Harmony Police Station, Superintendent Ademola Ijiehin lauded the University for the kind gesture. He promised that his officers would take good care of the motorbike. The DPO further assured the University Management that he would inform the Ogun State Commissioner of Police of the donation. The Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Adatan Area Command, Hon. Taiwo Akinlabi also lauded the University for the donation, describing FUNAAB as the “Most security-friendly University”.
