The Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), is poised for a significant occasion as it is set for the inauguration of its Indigenous Knowledge System (IKS).
Simultaneously, the Institute would host its 8th Annual In-House Research Review Meeting, marking a dual celebration of tradition and academic progress.
In a memo released by the Institute’s Director, Prof. Alaba Jolaoso, it informed that the inauguration of the Indigenous Knowledge System is a testament to IFSERAR’s commitment to honouring and integrating traditional wisdom into contemporary research and practices.
The memo further stated that the events would take place on Monday, March 18, and Tuesday, 19, 2024, at the Postgraduate School Auditorium, starting at 9:00 a.m daily.
The theme of the event, “Space Technology and Circular Economy as Strategy for National Economic Revitalisation,” reflects the Institute’s focus on innovative approaches to address contemporary challenges in agriculture and environmental sustainability.
Attendees could anticipate an engaging and informative session as discussions would encompass a range of topics, including the growth and development of the Institute.
The interactive nature of the event promises to foster collaboration and exchange of ideas among participants, further contributing to the advancement of agricultural research and practice.
The inauguration of the Indigenous Knowledge System and the Annual In-House Research Review Meeting mark significant milestones for IFSERAR, underlining its commitment to excellence in research and its recognition of the importance of traditional knowledge in shaping sustainable agricultural practices.
