… As DICTS Emerges Overall Winner of 2026 Staff Unity Games

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has concluded the 2026 Staff Unity Games, with the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services (DICTS) emerging as the overall winner after securing three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
The colourful closing ceremony provided an opportunity for members of staff to interact, compete in various sporting and recreational activities, and strengthen bonds of friendship and unity across the University Community. It also reiterated the call for peace, unity and peaceful coexistence among members of the University.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended the Sports Directorate for creating an avenue for staff members to come together in the spirit of peace and unity.
Prof. Kehinde noted that peaceful coexistence requires collective efforts, continuous advocacy and a strong commitment to harmonious working relationships. He acknowledged the contributions of staff, students, sponsors and other stakeholders to the success of the Games.
As part of the recognition of outstanding performances, the Vice-Chancellor announced cash awards to the top three teams. The overall winner received ₦100,000, while the second and third positions received ₦70,000 and ₦50,000, respectively.
In his remarks, the Director, Directorate of Sports and Wellness Centre, Dr. Samuel Olabanji, appreciated the University Management for its support and for providing staff and students with opportunities to participate in activities that promote peace, unity and healthy interaction.
Dr. Olabanji described the Games as a platform for fostering peace, unity and peaceful coexistence within the University Community, stressing the need to embrace unity in diversity and promote an inclusive environment where members can work together irrespective of their differences.
Meanwhile, the College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET) finished in second position with three gold and seven bronze medals, while the Vice-Chancellor’s Office placed third with two gold, two silver and six bronze medals.
The Registry emerged fourth with two gold and two silver medals, followed by DUFARMS in fifth position with one gold, three silver and five bronze medals. The Bursary placed sixth with one gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
The College of Entrepreneurial and Development Studies (COLENDS) occupied the seventh position with one gold, two silver and two bronze medals, while the Directorate of Works and Services finished eighth with one gold and two bronze medals.
The College of Biosciences (COLBIOS) placed ninth with one gold medal, while the College of Engineering (COLENG) secured the tenth position with one silver and one bronze medal. The College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC) completed the ranking in 11th position with one silver medal.
In the final football event, the Directorate of Works and Services beat the Registry Team 2 – 0, to pick up the soccer gold medal and Trophy.
A major highlight of the closing ceremony was the novelty match between the University Management and the FUNAAB Falcon Babes, alongside the presentation of medals and prizes to the winners.
