The International Community for Women In Agricultural Economics ( ICWAE) under the aegis of African Women In Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) has reiterated unwavering commitment to bettering the career and growth of their mentees who are Agric Economists.
Role Models under the auspices of ICWAE gave the assurance at a 2-Day Workshop organised for early career women in Agriculture, held at Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building.
A Role Model and Alumna of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, Nigeria and University of Reading, UK, Dr. Shakirat Ibrahim bared the minds of fellow Role Models at the Workshop.
According to her, other Role Models who also are Alumnae of FUNAAB are Dr. Titilope Olarewaju who is a Senior Research Fellow at Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) and Dr. Mojisola Kehinde of Landmark University, Omu Aran, Kwara State.
Dr. Ibrahim further disclosed that mentees were drawn from Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management (AEFM), FUNAAB, Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, Ondo State and Landmark University, Omu Aran, Kwara State.
She explained that the Workshop was borne out of the urgent need to intimate mentees of the need to “clarify their career and challenge them for advancement in order to guide them towards achieving their dreams.
Dr. Ibrahim reiterated the commitment of the Role Models towards ensuring the growth and development of their mentees as Agric Economists.
She however, thanked the Vice – Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde – led Management for providing enabling atmosphere for the hosting of the Workshop and the modest success of ICWAE and AWARD on campus and internationally.
Also speaking, the duo of the Workshop Speakers, Prof. Adebayo Shittu and Prof. Oluwakemi Enitan Fapojuwo, as well as AWARD Fellows, Prof. Iyabode Kehinde and Prof. Petra Abdulsalam-Saghir stressed the need for participants to build and leverage on strong relationship for their growth and development as Agric Economists and Researchers.
