Mechatronics Engineering Students Hold Exhibition

The Mechatronics Engineering Department of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) held its second exhibition today, September 4, 2024, featuring cutting-edge projects and research conducted by final-year students.

The event showcased advancements in precision agriculture, including interactive displays, live demonstrations, and opportunities for attendees to engage with the researchers.

The exhibited projects included an unmanned ground vehicle for herbicide spraying, controlled by a mobile app, an automated drainage cleaning system, an adaptive four-way junction traffic light controller using computer vision, and a UAV-based maize leaf disease detection system.

Other projects included a digital FUNAAB map, a bird detection system, an autonomous fire-fighting robot, a smart surveillance robotic car, and automation of a hydroponic farm for optimal crop yield and resource efficiency.

Commending the students, the Ag. Head, Mechatronics Department, Engr. Samuel Owoeye stated that the exhibition was aimed at encouraging the students to believe in themselves and their abilities.

He appreciated the students for investing time and resources into their projects, saying, “This exhibition is a testament to the students’ hard work and dedication to innovation.”

The event provided a platform for the students to showcase their skills and creativity, demonstrating the Department’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in Mechatronics Engineering.
